Prenatal and Postpartum Physical Therapy
 
Prenatal Program
 
For women who are currently pregnant, a program will be customized to address your individual needs whether you are in your first or third trimester. Our staff is certified to treat all conditions that may be associated with the changes your body goes through during pregnancy. This includes but is not limited to lower back pain, joint pain, fatigue, muscle cramping and edema (swelling).
 
Women may wonder if exercise is safe during pregnancy. Research has proven that exercise elevates mood, improves circulation, decreases blood pressure and enhances immune function. It has also been shown that exercise decreases the incidence of gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia.
 
The fetus is positively impacted by exercise as well. Children of exercising mothers have less risk of developing cardiovascular and metabolic disease. The nervous system of a baby born to an exercising mother adapts better to the environment. The baby sleeps better, has less colic and may speak earlier.

Postpartum Program
 
After having a baby you are experiencing so many changes including the ones your body goes through.
 
It is important to resume exercise as soon as you are able. This may be as early as 6 weeks after having your baby. There is a specific method to resuming exercise safely after giving birth. The certified staff at Revolution Physical Therapy is ready to build a program to suite your specific needs. Whether you have never exercised before, or if you are used to keeping a high level of fitness, Revolution Physical Therapy will design your program to meet your goals.
 
Research shows that many women experience incontinence, pelvic pain and post partum depression. If you experienced gestational diabetes this may mean that you will be more prone to developing diabetes later in life. Exercise is a great way to manage blood sugar levels and a customized program can help you stay healthy.
